Nothing human is alien to a human
There was a time when being present was just how people lived. Druids, village healers, monks, philosophers with their sanctioned leisure: reference points where attention and intention were the ordinary condition, not achievements. Now the sheer abundance of choice and convenience has flipped that. People stand ready to judge themselves and each other constantly, feel anxious about death, feel obligated to be productive, and avoid discomfort as a way of life. Something as ordinary as a bloated stomach becomes a thing to medicate, a personal failure, evidence of not living rightly. That is backwards. Life is meant to be lived, and turning living itself into a menu of judged choices shrinks what a human being is. Algorithmic and extractive technology has made it possible for people to simply stop living for stretches of time, because it suppresses intention, self-and-world attention, and meaning.
Because the Institute claims to stand for humans, it has to actually know them. The human condition belongs in its work, whole, and in words anyone can read.
And here is the hard, honest part: the systems doing the suppressing were built by humans. They likely grew out of fear, the fear that came when populations exploded and separate peoples met, conquered, and assimilated each other: fear of dissolving, fear of losing control. Out of that fear comes a recognizable figure, the mad, deeply wounded, neurotic leader who builds groups around suppressing others. And the people who give themselves wholly to such a leader become that same figure themselves, the way a hurting teenager builds a personality out of copied mannerisms. They only lack the throne. And even so, they are human beings. Healing is available to every one of them, because everything humans do falls inside the range of what humans can be, and nothing human is foreign.
Archetypes are just named profiles of that range. When someone lives so completely inside one profile that it is all anyone can see, they have shrunk themselves below the point where their full beingness can break through, and they are living out of step with reality. The way back starts with recognizing that, on their own or because others hold up the mirror. And a person cannot stay as they are and continue on; change is what continuing to exist requires.
