The work the Institute exists to do.

What Sage Service is

Sage Service is the nonprofit division of Sage Institute. It is the reason the Institute exists. The Deliverables division builds and earns revenue; the Service division directs the work that revenue makes possible.

Service is service as repair: the directed work of identifying specific, addressable breakages in the conditions humans need to live well, and building the things that address them. This is the Institute's charge, the work it is entrusted with. The charge is the work, and the work is the charge.

Where the focus lies

Sage Service orients toward equity-facing work: toward the people and places that the standard distribution architecture has left out, undersupplied, or actively extracted from. The specific programs are emerging; the orientation is settled.

Three threads define how Service approaches its work:

Community-facing. Service work happens with communities, not at them. The Institute does not assume it knows what a community needs before the community has said.

Equity-oriented. Where the standard model leaves out, Service includes. Where the standard model extracts, Service returns.

Research-aligned. Where systemic change requires evidence, Service contributes to the evidence base through its own work, through partnership with research-aligned institutions, and through transparency about what its programs do and do not show.

Name what is broken

What is broken, specifically, where you stand? Service begins from what people name, not from what the Institute assumes. Write it plainly to founder@sage-institute.org. A person reads every message, and what people name shapes where the work goes.

Current state

The Service division is in its first phase. Specific programs are being developed and will be announced as they reach launch. The Deliverables division, currently Stoa with Sanctums in development, is the revenue engine that funds the Service work as the Institute scales.
